A week to slow down. To walk every day through the garrigue, eat simply and find a truer rhythm again. The hiking and wellbeing week in the Gard comes down to a few simple things: a guided walk each morning, meals taken together, two evening workshops and a session in the hammam midweek. All on a full-board basis, from Sunday evening to Friday.

The paths of the Gard’s garrigue — the wild, fragrant scrubland of thyme, rosemary and holm oak that covers the hills of southern France — the hilltop villages around Sabran, the gorges of the Cèze: this corner of Provence makes a rare setting for a week in the open air. Here is how the week unfolds, day by day, at La Pousterle de Sabran.

Why a week of hiking and wellbeing?

Walking several days in a row, somewhere you have nothing to organise, has an effect that few people find over a weekend: you truly switch off. The daily guided walks stay accessible — an easy pace, shorter variants for those who want them — and the afternoons are left free for rest.

The walks are designed to remain within everyone’s reach: no brisk pace, frequent stops, time to look around. The landscapes of the Gard — holm oaks, wild thyme, views over the Cèze valley — go hand in hand with this slowing down.

The setting: Sabran, in the Provençal Gard

La Pousterle de Sabran is an estate of characterful holiday cottages in the heart of the garrigue. It has a shared hammam, a hot tub with views over the valley and an outdoor space with sun loungers. A shared hammam and hot tub session is scheduled midweek, to recover between two days of walking.

Getting here is easy: Avignon TGV station is 30 minutes away, and car-sharing is organised between participants for those arriving by train.

The walks

A different guided walk each day, adapted to the group’s level:

Hammam, hot tub and wellbeing workshops

After the walking, the estate becomes a place to recover. A shared hammam and hot tub session is scheduled midweek, and two evening wellbeing workshops (Monday and Wednesday) punctuate the days. The afternoons stay free for rest, reading or a moment on the sun loungers looking out over the garrigue.

Price and dates

The sessions take place in the late season, when the warmth of the Gard is gentle and the garrigue is at its most beautiful. 9 sessions are scheduled between 14 September and 14 November 2026, each running from Sunday at 5 pm to Friday at 3 pm (5 nights).

Two options, at a fixed price: €990 solo and €1,690 per couple (same accommodation). The price includes 5 nights’ accommodation, full board (breakfast, packed lunch, dinner), the daily guided walks, the wellbeing workshops, the shared hammam and hot tub session, and bed linen and towels.
